Spent 20 mins playing around with the 8 GB 4.0 today in the FNAC in Paris using UE 700 IEMs.
Plus points -very good sound quality, judging by the preloaded Samsung samples. I had a micro sd card with me but to insert it you have to remove the back which was secured by a plastic band. -android experience just as smooth as my HTC Desire. Wifi connection was strong and Android market was present and correct on the home screen, inviting me to sign in with my Google account -browser was fast with good pinch to zoom action. BBC iPlayer page loaded in a flash (geo-locking prevented me from testing it) -camera seemed good. Well anything seems good after the HTC Desire's excuse for a camera. Anyway the pictures were sharp. -Video quality excellent, smooth with depth and good blacks. Again a (probably flattering) Samsung preloaded sample. -Screen was very responsive. Much better than my Cowon J3, more like my Ipod touch 3g, if not better. The Bad -It looks exactly like a Samsung Galaxy phone and is just as plasticky and flimsy feeling. The chassis flexes in the same way and if dropped I am sure the rear cover and battery would go skating across the floor. I would worry about it being nicked by an understandably confused cellphone thief. -Price €239 for the 8GB version (€227 to FNAC members) is a bit much, exactly the same price as the Apple Ipod Touch 8GB, which at least feels well-built. -No physical controls beyond volume and a screen/power off switch. For the last reason alone I will stick with the Cowon J3. But I may buy it as a gift for my SO as she does not mind fishing her player out to pause or change track. To sum up, a lovely, expensive player that seems the equal or superior of the Apple in every way except build quality. And night and day compared to the horrible Galaxy 50. I'm not liking the comment on design. First off, I don't care for white since it shows dirt and scratches easily. I also don't like the plastic part. The one thing I loved about the P3 was how solid it felt in my hand.

I put a case on ALL my portable devices - so the light weight build quality means nothing to me. Now, everything else being quite good (sq, video playback, app usage, battery life) - that's what I consider the real deciding factor.

^ Same.
Even though I don't like to I rather have a working device then a broke one.

So True, I still have mine and I still love it. it works like a charm and because of my good experience I would consider the Galaxy Wifi 4 or galaxy Player 4 or what ever it's called. But my main concern is not the hardware but the software and the special extra things like connectivity with other samsung products and the availability of cases etc. because I had a really hard time finding a case for my P2. I managed to get one from a retailer but that was the only time I saw them. When I went back they couldn't deliver them anymore. Ad I know software isn't important if the player does what it's supposed to do play music and video files, however this player is marketed as a multimedia/multi functions device and software should be up to date and not once every 6 months (because android is rapidly developed).
