Okay, so I'm not totally an idiot, but apparently when it comes to the D3, I am.
I just got mine, and after charging, I wanted to update the firmware. I downloaded 3.31, and it's a zip file. It doesn't make total sense to me that I would move that zipped file to my device, but the instructions in the manual say "Copy it to the root folder of COWON D3.". I saw on my PC that there are numerous files and directories in the zip, so I moved just the zipped file to the root of my D3. I also have to say that I don't know how to "‘turn off USB storage’ on the device" that the manual also states. So after following the next instructions (" Settings ▶ About D3 ▶ System updates, select the storage where the file is saved to start firmware upgrade."), I saw a message that I don't remember (I know, I should have written it down - but it was a message that made me think things were going fine). Then, next thing you know, I've got the orange triangle with the exclamation point in it on my screen. {sigh} Any pointers? Should I unzip the file and move the contents to my device? -Susan |

It would only make sense to unzip the dl first, btw I have read they have a recovery tool for it already.

I was wrong, I was going on all other cowon fw updates, I'd follow the directions here, if you scroll down they have screen shots.

Well, the one thing that I did, that was not part of the instructions was that I renamed the file from update.zip to update_cowon_d3.zip. I just now renamed it, and it's running.
Thanks! |

@smeliot:
Now that you have the new firmware, how is it. No lagging(s), freezes, and a smoother performance Just a Curious Cowon fan |

Every once in a while while watching videos, it freezes. Other than that, it seems fine. Now if I can just get my audible files ...
