Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 cannot connect with kies

I just got my galaxy s wifi 4.0 from hong kong to canada and i cannot connect it to kies. What do i do? is it because it's from a different country

Congrats! You are the first one here to post no to ask when and where the device is available but to report a problem with it

Make sure you have the latest Kies version (2.0.0.11044_11 if I'm not wrong) and please precise your issue. What do you mean exactly by "you can't connect it to Kies"? Aren't there several PC connection modes on Android devices?

well never mind it was my computers usb port not working
can you put music from windows media player or you have to use kies like itunes

Why don't you try yourself with WMP? That's not dangerous

Normally it's working like any Android device so you should not be obliged to use Kies for your files transfers. Kies is only necessary for firmware upgrade.

BTW, I'm not very familiar with Android devices (yet) and I don't have a Wifi 4.0 (yet). Just waiting for Samsung to give me one sooner or later, as usual
That's why it is a bit hard for me to help people with these new Galaxy players...

Can you tell me what's your firmware version? Kies can tell you that or you can also probably check in the settings on the player itself.
'Cause Samsung released a new firmware ver JQ7 some days ago but it is for the Korean GB1 version, I don't know how it is with the G1 (without DMB) version.

Sorry im new at this. The firmware on kies is PDA:KC5/ CS:KS(XSH)

Well i got it from hong kong not shipped. Bought by a family member and gave it to me. dont worry if your from korea , china , hong kong , russia and switzerland you can get one but if not it wont be long

You have to go to
Settings > Wireless & Network > USB settings > Samsung Kies

Then it'll prompt you for firmware upgrades etc, and miraculously appears in My Computer...

This problem is already solved I can go on by turning it on from my notifications. Weird thing is that I don't have USB settings anywhere but this is probably due to the Version of My Device from where I purchased (Hong Kong & Taiwan)
