Headphones for P3 ? - Koss Porta Pro kills sound

I've been searching for good headphones for driving, with means I need some 'hear through' for sirens, horns, ect. Samsung tech support gave me an output rating on my YP-P3J of 20mW/Ch at 16 Ohms, which tells me they were designed for 16 ohm devices.

I just bought Koss's Porta Pro 08 headphone (60 Ohms, 101db) for a trip and they wouldn't do at all. Had to set P3 for Full Volume to hear music clearly, but sound output was very low. 16ohm headphones are unavailable except at the very low end and I'm an audiophile. Several of the Sennheiser headphones go down to 32 Ohms at 114db, but am not sure this would be sufficient.

Ear Buds would be OK if you could hear traffic noise thru them, but the ones that came with the P3 block all sound, so I've assumed any of the in-ear products will be the same way, but can't confirm this.

Anyone out there that can provide so help on this? P3 users with 32 Ohm headphones? Thanks in advance for any replies.
