It is not like you only have a few hours of music stored... And the huge and very bright screen just makes it worse, you can't even set it up to power down in less than 15 seconds... I wish it was AMOLED and with better settings. It seems that aesthetics won against common sense.

Batteries, not the players.
Those devices still use the same batteries as all the other ones, any way. The argument still stands. Also, they have relatively large batteries for their size (30% of volume or higher) versus the A840/A850 series, which are about 20% (rough estimates based upon known break-downs of parts and construction). Even then, the Shuffle (depending upon the model) is 12 to 20 hours. Two models have no screen, while another is a touch screen (small as it is). They also tend not to run any of the various features that the Walkmans do, like a built-in amp, built-in noice canceling, etc... They're very different devices, and a direct comparison of battery life between them is meaningless unless that is your only standard by which to measure them. That is,if you will forgive the pun, apples and oranges. Agreed. They could have made it the same size as any of the current S-series. Those have awesome battery life, and it's because they have more room to store the battery in. Twice as think seems to equal twice as much battery. Still would kill for a 64 GB S540 or S750. |

I think the top end Sony are too expensive for the features you get, is the new Sony even OLED or does it have an lcd screen? i'd probably just get an iPod touch for the same price. http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mp3-player...view-50004541/
They're in the shops but I'm not rushing out. Last edited by Greg91x; 08-05-2011 at 02:58 PM. |

I called Sony today, and they told me the 64gb A Series will be Japan ONLY, like the 64gb A847. I then informed them that there's a 64gb A847 that was available in the EU - the reps didn't know what to say after that. So, as they say, wait & see what comes down the pipeline I guess.
I did get offered a New 16gb A series at a discounted price as a consolation tho,...I passed. I'd settle for a 32gb, maybe. I'd JUMP on a 64gb. I will NOT settle for a 16gb Sony,...I already have an S639 - and it'll hole till I get what I really want. Japan only my AZZ!!! Sony is shiit when it comes to us here in the USA/Canada!!!

Can anyone confirm if the new Sony A860 series still has the EU volume cap on it? As a member on Headfi said he bought the new A860 model in the UK and it was loud.

I'd much rather spend $500 on 128GB of flash memory and a pair of new IEMs instead of buying that overpriced thing lol

It looks like a J3 may be in my future since the battery on my X is starting to die a slow death, and Sony is being so retarded about the new players.
Way to go....

By the way, let's not start comparing prices between EU or US/CA, there is a simple rule for electronics. What you pay 100$ in the US, we pay 100 euros, regardless of the exchange rate (as long as 1 euro is worth more than a dollar). Of course, if one day a Dollar is worth more than a Euro again (like it was the case initially), it won't remain true. This is called ripping off Europeans everyday since we got our wonderful common currency (and don't imagine we're earning more than in the US). I could buy some Earsonics SM3v2 cheaper in the US than in Europe, even though they're made in my own country (France), go figure... ![]() Don't worry, if the A867 ever reaches the US one day, you'll get it for 349$...

I will compare exchange rates, as that's how much it would cost me to buy it from that site - plus international S&H. SONY CAN KMA!!!
