Galaxy S wifi 5.0 charge time

I got the S Wifi 5.0 a few days ago, and so far I'm impressed (will post more detailed impressions after I've used it some more). However, one thing seems really odd - it takes forever to charge.

Switched off, charging via the mains plug, it's taking over 10 hours to charge from empty to full! This seems really excessive, and makes me wonder if the battery is maybe faulty.

To other owners of the S Wifi 5.0: How long does it take to charge your device?

My understanding is that first charges usually take a long time, and subsequent charges are much faster. I've not heard this specifically about the SGP, just about devices that ship with rechargeable batteries.

Yeah, I've heard that too, which is why I want to check with other 5.0 owners to see if it's normal.

Given that the Galaxy Tab 7 inch has a 4000mah battery and charges in about 3.5 hours, the 2500mah battery in the 5.0 doesn't seem like it should take this long at all, even if it is "first charge syndrome".

Mine seemed to take a long time to charge the first time. But now, it's better; however it seems to be very slow to "top off." I'd say give it some more time before you jump to any conclusion. The one app. that eats my battery alive is Netflix streaming.

It sounds like you're just not familiar with modern batteries. They charge the first approximate 70% in the first half of the charge time and the last 30% in the next half.

Yeah, that's how mine goes. The first 70% probably takes the same amount of time as the last 30%. But when the total charge time goes over 10 hours?...

Just put it on for it's third charge now (from 10%), so I'm going to time it again.

Update: The device successfully charged from 10% to 100% in around 3 hours 30 minutes.

Looks like it was just "initial charge syndrome" after all.

here in thailand, people just charge it overnight. i heard some need the whole day to charge maybe they have programs opened in the background or sumthing. 3 hours is rarely since most spent up to 6 hours charging.

I've been getting around 80% battery charge in 3 1/2 hrs and 95% in about 5hrs, i've yet seen a full charged battery on my SGP 5
