I've got a Cowon X7 with latest firmware (2.08 I think) and it still freezes when playing several particular MP3 files in my collection.
I check and they are regular MP3 files: 320 kbps, MP1 layer 3. The only thing common with these file is that they have an APEv2 tag in the file. Whenever the X7 hits one of these files, it freezes and the thing stays on (and heats up I think) until the battery goes flat!!!! unless I hold the power button in until it turns off/reboots. Now I'd have to find a utility to remove this tag from my mp3 files... Just thought I'd let everyone know

Hi, and welcome to ABI.
MP3TAG is one of the best utilities you can use for this.

Just to concur, my complete collection was retagged with MP3Tag and I had no issue with my X7 so far (firmware 2.08 as well)
