When I got my NWZ S545 16 gb walkman, the fact that it came with an FM radio seemed to me a total waste, something I would never use. Well, then came Hurricane Irene, and our power was out for 24 hours. No way to hear storm updates or warnings. I turned on my S545 Walkman, tapped the FM radio shortcut on the screen, and thanks to the 40 hours or so of battery life, I was back in touch with the world. So a function I never thought I would use turned out to be very valuable, and I point it out here in case you might not think of it if in an emergency.

That's a great point....I usually don't use the FM on my players that have it, but in those circumstances I certainly would!

Good point, I don’t normally use the radio tuner on my DAPs either. Although in a storm case I could see using it as a back up to the various battery powered radios I have for use during storms.
