How do I format my Zen MX?

I've been having trouble with it for a few days now. I contacted Creative Support, they told me the usual, format it, upgrade the firmware etc.

I went into the recovery mode and formatted it (which then said - Free Space: 0MB) and cleaned it up, no joy.

How do I format from my PC? Every time I go to do it it says 'Windows has failed to complete this operation' meaning that it's protected D:
