Hold the volume down button while plugging into USB to start the stock firmware for USB transfer. And/or use a card reader for the external SD card.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but when I restart, it keeps saying:
"Loading firmware - File not found"

I can boot into OF just fine.

Steps:
1) In the OF: System settings -> USB mode -> MSC
2) Copy the clpza.bin and the .rockbox folder (from the first post here), to the root of the device (see screenshot).
3) Eject, unplug USB. Screen reports: "Firmware upgrade in progress" and shuts down.
4) Powering on shows that "file not found" error.
5) Powering on with the volume down button pressed on boots into OF just fine.

What am I doing wrong? :/

I believe what you are doing wrong is adding the clpza.bin file. If you've already extracted the bootloader from the first post onto your player, then adding the clpza.bin file just erases it, or maybe over-writes it would be more accurate. The bootloader, if you read closely, says clipzip01.01.17-rockbox_bootloader
which means that the clpza is already in there.

Right, that's the clpza.bin I'm using; the one from the first link. I'm not creating my own.

I have the "current rockbox build", and "clipzip01.01.17-rockbox_bootloader" from the first post only; nothing else (aside from default files that the player creates).

What I am seeing in your image above http://i.imgur.com/L3ryp.png seems to contradict what you're saying. I can see the clpza.bin file there in your root.....I shouldn't see it.

Here is mine....http://i.imgur.com/TDBtl.png which works fine.

Checked the file structure; the clpza.bin isn't there; I guess it deletes itself after successful firmware update?

Also, the .rockbox directory wasn't there either (lolwut).

I put the .rockbox directory back in, and it booted into rockbox just fine.

Yes, that .bin file is already attached to the bootloader, so you don't have to include it.

Hi, there are about 4 hours that I try to install rockbox into my sansa clip zip.
I have the same problem of RocktheCasbah: "Loading firmware - File not found".
I did the same steps and then the same mistake Rock but I did not understand what's the solution?
Should I use Rockbox Utility? But the Sansa Clip zip is not in the list of compatible devices. Also I do not know how to use the command pront so I can not do the manual installation
There is a guide for dummies?

That means you have the bootloader installed, but not rockbox.

It works! I'm amazed I have tried at least 20 times to install it by deleting and recovering the folder. Rockbox. This time it worked the first time. Maybe I downloaded a wrong version of Rockbox.

I don't suggest using an unstable port if you cannot figure things out for yourself.
You sound like you've never used Rockbox before or read the manual.
Unstable ports are meant for developers/advanced users to test.
