Cowon i9 no CD in the package! quick answer plz, might return it!

hi!

so i just got my i9 but there was no CD in the bundle. the seller told me that Cowon don't pack it in nowadays, since all the PCs already got the necessary drivers. i know it's a lie since i just called the cowon hotline in germany

two more thing:
1) the user guide in the package says ver. 1.43K, unlike the user guides of their hp (which says [the english version]: ver. 1.1EN). might this a real update in the end, where they don't include the CD anymore? also if u check the check the pics of the accessories which should be included, u see a difference in both user guide's

They do include it but it isn't needed at all and there's no drivers on it. There's a urser manual and a copy of the free jetaudio software are the only things on the CD. If you really want them, you can download both free from Cowon if you wish, so if you return it for that it's a silly reason ... look for a real issue and if there's a problem then return it but don't wait too long. BTW, I never even unpack my CD but knew from other Cowon I own.

okok, but i never underestimate the capability of the chinese fake market... anyway, plz delete this thread then

To put your mind at rest you could register your product for warranty with Cowon, or just mail them the serial number on the back and ask for confirmation.

Like others I'd be amazed to see a fake of such a niche product. Fakes tend just to be superficial imitations: imagine the r&d to mimic the BBE sound enhancements and complex eq of a Cowon!

There is one way uncannily accurate 'fakes' reach market: when a Chinese subcontractor for a major brand does a clandestine production run to sell through back channels without knowledge of the brand. Again I can't see it in this case: you could maybe hide a few extra Ford cars in a production run but unexplained extra Maseratis would soon be spotted by the owner community or the manufacturer. And the Cowon is certainly more of a Maserati than a Ford (as you will find if you go looking for spares or accessories!)
