![]() Second: it wasn't my intention to sound defensive (capitals are the way to do that) or using other words, in which I express my sincere feelings, which I didn't do. The message was clean and direct, OK I admit it was short as it was just a time saver. (from a readers perspective and mine, people don't want to read long texts if the answer can be summarized) And childish not sure how: just buy an iPod, you'll be happier (I got the S 4.0 and love it, in case anyone wonders) can be interpreted as childish, but everyone is entitled to his own opinion. But let me explain the complete reason of my message now that I have the time. it wasn't defensive but you must admit every device has it's pro's and con's. And most of the time, you as a Ultra Senior member surely know that by all the messages you've seen, and wrote, is that once someone wants to buy an iPod touch they buy other devices and really come to the conclusion that when they finally buy the iPod touch it meets their expectations of a music player they want that acts, looks and functions like an iPod touch. So I merely made the quickest move to advice buying an iPod touch straight away. And Apple is great, iTunes works, application and games are great, looks good, great quality/price ratio, the accessories, oh don't get me started about those amazing widely available accessories, you can get them with angry birds on them, gold sparkles, Ed hardy designs The Beatles, Hendrix etc(anyway getting off topic). So nothing bad about Apple, had one for myself (but gave it away). When someone buys a device it should be to their needs, and if you want a device that is something like the iPod touch, just buy the touch. It's cheaper has a better (way better) camera, more games, the retina display is pretty sweet. and so on and so on. The freedom android brings is probably one of the key points why someone would buy the SG player. (and the microSD 4 me) If you don't mind extra steps to jailbreak it (I know just a mouse click away) and lose your warranty than the touch would be a nice deal. And ios looks great specially designed 4 such devices, android however is a mix and match story. Recently there was the 4.0 and 5.0 which will it be friends topic, and I don't know who, but the poster ended up with an...iPod touch instead. Why?... because Apple is good in what they do, they learn, improve, update and start over again. Samsung is just beginning with this stuff so things aren't perfect, that's something people should accept. And the overall experience is already ruined for Zyxxeil. It doesn't matter if we also experience those same problems, because he has to use it and if he is like me, let's just say he is, he uses his device on a hourly/daily basis. So having another Samsung would always have a nasty aftertaste, and brings the fear of buying problem products from Sammie. So coming to the conclusion he/she would be happier with an iPod touch is just merely making out what everybody sees coming. And would be the most obvious and realistic thing to do. And by saving the money because it's cheaper, you can use that extra money to buy some of those accessories (I'm serious here, in case you're wondering) Samsung is awful in accessories. Had the same problem with my P2 bought it, works great, still does, and couldn't find the special case 4 it ordered it from Korea, great until the little clamps broke because I had to remove it to reset it. by that time no one was selling those cases. So that's my long answer. hope I made my point and reasons clear. |

As someone who had an iPod Touch previously before this...it took me a few weeks to get the hang of the player and it actually feels better. (My only problem was that whole Kies sucks thing and I am so used to iTunes syncing and organization, but I got over it)
But if you gave it a chance, I don't see why you shouldn't go and switch it out. It is a personal thing really and you are the one who is going to be using it in the end. Happy shopping!~ |

Second, I hope you don't mean Samsung's new to the mp3 player game, cuz they were one of the first on the scene. Behold, the YP-D40, AKA Creative Nomad, released 1999. Just saying. Back to the thread.

I do get your point, now get mine - different strokes for different folks. I've tried many devices, and I OWN many - this is the player I've decided to travel with since it offers the best mix of features & SQ,...for ME. I'm not defensive, antagonistic, etc. I'm just making the point that the only player that counts is the one that YOU enjoy.
Me, my SGP 5.0 is #1!!! (Batman style BTW!!!) And the iPod touch would be still in my possession IF the screen we're bigger. But, for media playback, battery life, SQ using my 3'rd party app of choice,...even video quality,...the SGP 5.0 would be getting all the usage. I do wish it rocked a dual core processor & an AMOLED screen, but it looks EXCELLENT for what it has. Even with my iPad 2, which is a damn great device in it's own right, I ONLY use it for internet browsing & YouTube video watching. I don't even play games on it - Android for that instead. I'll be quite honest - the next PHONE I get will be with a 5" screen, Android, and rockin' PowerAMP! iOS won't cover ANY of that. I may discuss iOS, but I really DON'T want another iPhone/touch - they're just not for me. And FYI: I know the SGS II rocks a dual core,...wise azz!!! ![]() Annnddd,...the browser STILL SUX!!!

Sounds like you got a bad device. This issues are not indicative of my player. I also like the wireless syncing with Winamp as well.

As far as devices go. I have Three Android Tablets (Asus, Samsung, Efun) Players (Sony, JVC, and Sharp Mini Disc Players, 3 Apple players, three Sony DAP's, Two Sansa Clips.Western Digital TV/WD HDD via fiber Toslink connection and much more to list) All that aside I don't have anything that compares to My 5" SGP because it is apples and oranges. As a Music player the SGP it is little on the weak side. SGP is my main device currently Which runs as a music/audio player well over 12 hrs a day, but if I want to listen to good sound I will pull out a Sony player or a Sansa Clip. Right now I am seeking ways to improve the sound of my SGP. |

I agree. I don't hate or want to bash Apple. I just don't like having all my eggs in one basket nor am I a fan for anything propriety based. He that can give you everything can take away everything! I hear not enough apps all the time. Apps, smapps; really! Sure Apple has a lot of apps and well over 60% or higher of the market is garbage. The same can be said of Android Market. I bought a Efun Nextbook for next to nothing because the person did like SlideMe app market which you are force to use. They have about 10% of what Android Market does. Some might say SlideMe doesn't have enough. Bull Hockey! SlideMe has weeded out all the crap apps and I find all the useful and pertinent apps (to me at least) on SlideMe as with Android Market. Really how many Fart apps do you need, really? (Not that I don't find Farts funny, I do) Fart app or any Soundboard app or Celebrity app and Sports team app, ect. is just crap. If you get something out of them well; great. To me it is just crap! |
