Default What speed Micro SD card is necessary?

I am getting a SGP 5.0. I can get a SanDisk 32gb micro SD card for $50, but there is no speed class rating stated by SanDisk for these cards = Class 4, Class 6, Class 10? This is not the ultra SanDisk but the original. I can also get a PNY Class 10 card for $60. How fast a card is necessary?

A Kingston 32GB Class 4 seems to work fine. Writing speed is a bit slow for a large transfer of files. No issues reading the card at all.

I have a SanDisk micro sd card, 32gb, rated as a class 4. It works fine. Get whatever is cheapest, as it doesn't matter if the class is a lower and slower speed. Like stated, it'll be slower to write to the card, but the players overall performance will not be affected. SGP 5.0 is what I have BTW.

I'm in the USA, and that's a great deal. Me, I'm gonna test a 64gb micro sd card in mine soon -I hear it works excellently.

@1776 you gotta be crazy to pay 50 bucks for a 32GB amazon has atleast 3 Sandisk microSD 32 GB for under 40 shipped and while one is unlabeled the other 2 are class 4 which i've been told is fine for music, but if your going to do video (HD i assume) then you need a faster card or the video will stutter.

@The DarkSide you got somewhere you can reference with people that have working 64GB cards in these players? and does it work in the 4.0?

I'm happy with my Sandisk 16GB MicroSDHC, Class 4I got at Amazon for like $17. Most of the stuff you might want "faster" is on the internal 8gb anyway. I only have pictures and music on the external... and with Google Music cloud, I don't think I'll use up my 16gb. I do notice a few apps automatically installed on the external (into a blind .android secure folder), mostly games.

Dang, I just clicked my link, now $10... I may get another!

If you are going to take pictures or shoot video Class 6 or better. I you are transfering files and music you will be happy with a Class 4.

I currently use Sandisk Class 6 Micro SD cards 16 GB because Costco was selling them for $15 a pop. So I bought five for all my devices. I quite content with the size and speed of these cards.

Was goin' to buy a 32 GB Class 4. After comparing transfer times between Class 4 cards and Class 6 which isn't that much but faster the better and I can't plop down cash for Class 10 cards in my needs and budget it is not fesible.

Got to agree with the others, if you live in the USA that deal is too high. I just received my second Class 4 SanDisk 32GB microsd card from amazon.com today. The first a few weeks ago was $30.00 free shipping and the 2nd one was $32.85 with free shipping as well. I formatted and tested both cards, no problems with them and my clip zip is a happy camper.

Edit: Dam I had to look and found $27.43 but no free shipping http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microS...4506748&sr=8-1

I got a 100 dollar amazon gift card for christmas and I just used half of it to order this card and a 4.0 soft case and a 1500 mah battery for the galaxy s mini 5570 (same battery that the 4.0 uses from what others have posted here).

For the price of the 64 GB cards you can get like 4-5 32 GB cards so i went with the one in this guys link, since its enough to hold all my music and will free up the space on the internal for anything else.

I suppose none of you know whether or not the SGP screws up micro SDHC cards of 32GB/10class. Does anyone else know?

Hi,

I'm not 100% what you're asking, but I just got a 32GB/class 10 microSD card (Patriot), and it works ok in my SGP5 (US/2.3.5).

If that wasn't what you were asking about, then pls post back and clarify?

Jim

Hello Ohaya,
I read an Amazon bad review of the Patriot 32/10 micro card and within the comments, found consensus that there were industry-wide problems with 32GB microSDHC cards of class 10. Checking back, I now see that most of those comments were posted back in June but, even in November people were supposedly experiencing it.

well, so it means that class-4 cards can easily read/play video files. the only problem would be copying huge data files from my pc???

EDIT:

Lexar- 55USD
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexar-32GB-3...item1e67a660e0

Transcend - 51 USD
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transcend-Ul...item1e6a5cfdb0

please, which one would be better???

IMO, I've been reading that a lot of people are having trouble with class 10's that are not main brands like Sandisk. They seem to be labeled 10, but act more like class 2 or 4. The most likely sweet spot for price/write-rate for video or mass-file-transfer would be a class 6 Sandisk.
