Question about SMP 5.0 Screen Quality

is the screen of SMP 5.0 good? Good in the sense that is its built-quality good, does it last long or breaks easily. So, in this context is it good?

Hasn't broken or scratched yet -- not using any screen protector. I still maintain the screen is glass.

I just took a risk and ran an exacto blade up near the black area by the speaker... no scratch at all, it must be glass, some sort of gorilla. I'm NOT going to hit it with anything to try to break it, I'm sure it will break. It's very sensitive and colors are great. Couldn't be happier... also running bare.

You are a brave man, tcat! I also run bare, the SGP that is.

I don't think I would drop it, drop anything heavy directly on the screen - and I would avoid walking around with it in a pocket that also has a large keyring full of keys in it. It does seem to be well made, and crystal clear. I agree with TexasRockbox - it seems to be glass. if it is not glass it is a real close to having the properties of glass.

I use the leather sleeve/case I mentioned in the accessories thread (Amazon Basics). I dropped it from a 42" c'top yesterday (in the leather case), no damage at all. Hit a tile floor, sounded like the case absorbed it all. It's a very heavy duty case. I'm not usually a klutz, but sure glad it was in the case!

I have the Riot leather folio case and that protects the outside and is spaced enough away from the edges to also protect the SGP 5 pretty well. I find that case a bit bulky to slip into my shirt pocket - though it will fit. I also have the Riot hard case and that fits nicely in a shirt or jacket pocket. The leather case is easy to put the SGP in and out of so switching cases is fast if I am on the go.

Good to know tcat, I still like the cheap insurance of the Skinomi as I don't want to have to worry much about what is in the pocket with it.

Congrats,just as a warning you're probably going to be spoiled like hell now and not want to purchase another player lol

The SGP 5 does not have gorilla glass. Not sure what it has or how tough it is. But haven't seen any complaints about it scratching easily.
