Default USB extremely touchy - normal?

I just took the X7 out of the box and changed some settings, looked at the screen a bit, etc. Then I plugged in the USB cord and plugged it into my computer via a hub. It said briefly that it was initializing then terminating, updating database, then turn off. I was able to connect once and put on some files, but mostly it just updates and turns off. Is this normal (if it is I don't want this unit)? Could it be the cord?

Have you checked that the socket is fully inserted to the X7? I've read that some report it feels like it's in all the way when it really isn't, the socket is tight at first so you should check that first, then the cord but what you report isn't normal.

That Fixed it. OK I now feel stupid. It was REALLY hard to push in. But now it's solid! I almost bought a new cord! I tried the Video Adapter and it was actually better (even just slightly pressed in) than the USB cable, so I thought a new one would work.

Thanks!
