So normally on the orignal firmware for the Sansa Zip Clip, I'm able to browse through my music files and it displays the file information rather than the file name.
Now with rockbox, the file name itself is being displayed (i.e. "01 - Flying Monkey Fighters - The Rainbow Donkey Song" rather than just "The Rainbow Donkey Song"). Is there any way to get the file information to be displayed in rockbox rather than the file name itself? Also is there a "lock" function for a clip zip with rockbox? Sorry if there's been topics or concerns about this before but I'm not sure where to ask about this. Last edited by B-Wong; 02-04-2012 at 07:18 PM. |

Use the database rather then the file browser.

The Database has different views, try that. The manual is here. You'll want to do some reading there to find out how to utilize Rockbox to it's fullest.

Something I'm still a bit fuzzy about even after reading the parts of the manual that seem relevant: Can I browse through playlist using the database playback option?
Thanks for the references so far!

The database basically creates dynamic playlists based on file tags. If you've already got playlists, you can just play them directly without need for the database.

What do you mean by 'search through a playlist'?

Say for example I have 3 songs in my playlist
I can play these three songs but if I wanted to choose song #1 instead of playing song #3 on the playlist, currently I'd have to go through the standard folder navigation to do this. So instead of "Song #1", I'd see something like "01 - The Dancing Midgets - Song #1" I kind of want to look through the playlist seeing something like this: "Song #1" "Song #2" "Song #3" But currently when I search through the playlist I see something like this: "01 - The Dancing Midgets - Song #1" "02 - The Dancing Midgets - Song #2" "03 - The Dancing Midgets - Song #3" Is there any way to make it lkook more like the first list? So basically, you want a way to customize the playlist viewer much like the database. I'm not sure how the viewer is set. It might be hard coded, or it might be under control of the theme or database.

Couldn't have phrased it better.
