Looks interesting but they (cowon) makes you wonder if they're serious about video when the go with a lower resolution screen, LCD versus AMOLED :/ Also a bit stocky for my taste but let's see when they hit the street ...

This would have been the ideal replacement for my Cowon J3 if it wasn't because my Cowon J3 works *perfectly* and because of the LCD Panel x.x

It's nice to see that Cowon has done something right though. This is exactly the kind of player I would be looking for if I was looking for a new one.

Urne I'd still rather have the J3, smexier, nicer screen and similar battery life ...

mmm, you're probably right. 4.8" is not that big an improvement over 4.3" I guess. 800x480 screen resolution vs. 480x272 is an improvement too but not on that kind of LCD Panel I suppose. @_@

Hey, have you ever seen the Samsung Galaxy Note (5.3")? It's the most unportable smartphone ever. I think it was a good idea to make the player smaller than the Galaxy Note, that makes it at least semi-portable.

thank you kizune!
idk why everyone wants a bigger and bigger screen. for a music player (with a video feature) this screen should be enough.
these things should be still portable...

So they finally stop using that Windows CE 6.5 and switched to Android for an operating system, seems like they did do something right. So the SGP 5.0 has a match, they both get 10 hours of video playback. I'd love to see a comparison between the two eventually.

I wonder if Cowon has finally heard the complaints from O2 and V5 owners.

And on top of that it's sooo costly! Who can spend almost $500 on a PMP? I would rather save up and get the iBasso DX100. I'd love to have one, but not in exchange for an appendage.

Really? I thought I saw that number somewhere... In any case it's still a big chunck on money.

Nah man.
It's going at 339,000 won for 32 gb, and 399,00 won for 64 gb. So around $340 and $400 american/canadian

I might pick this up if the price drops somewhat. Seems pretty promising...

Wow, really?! Well if the reviews are good and the price drops just alittle I might grab one! I wasn't about to spend $500 on a player, so $400 sounds more do-able.

Well, this A5 has something that the Z2 doesn't have: a 64Gb model... at the cost of the AMOLED screen.

When will they ever get something completely right ?

A 64Gb Z2 or an AMOLED 64Gb A5, anyone?

And for info, the 64Gb A5 is half of the price of the iBasso DX100, it's not a fair comparison.

Exportprive has a Cowon A5 with a amoled display, not LCD.

Default Cowon A5

I came across this when browsing my local cowon supplier in oz.

I don't think i have heard of it, doesn't ring any bells, no sub forum for it, nor did it return any searches in abi.

Looks like a giant c2 or d3?

$345 pretty pricey, but then those looking into the x9 but disappointed in video support might be more impressed with this, looks to run 1080p mkv's etc. Resolution alot better also.

I see its $295 on exportprive http://www.exportprive.com/en/cowon/...290182050.html

I guess cowon has failed in the pmp imo since few have offered the BBE/Jet Effect tweaks in the video section. If this does its quite an attractive pmp.

Cheers, had a good read there.
I just went on the official cowon site for it, its says "* Support for all types of audio output, including music, video, and fm radio." under the JetEffect 5 blurb.
This is good news indeed, I was devastated when the cowon o2 i owned didn't support good sound for the video side of things, looks like they got it right here, that counts for ALOT in my book. If someone could confirm it...
This is looking way better than the x9, bluetooth as well.

I take it this could be rooted to have Google Play onboard? That would give us Kindle app and therefore making it a half decent ereader also. I'm thinking of this for my wife, she commutes 55mins on a train each side, right now she uses d2 for music, kindlefire for ereading, wondering if this would streamline things for her provided we could get it to become a full pledge ereader.
