Seems I run the gamot of problems here dont I guys?
Anyway, after my non-responsive screen fiasco, (thanks habhome! after i left it to dry a bit it worked ok) I noticed that the screen had a dark blue/haze blue bruise in the middle of the screen. It isnt noticable otherwise, but It shows up clearly when I was recalibrating my touch screen. Ive already contacted Creative Support about the matter, but I wanted to know if any of you guys have experienced this with your devices or other devices, and how did you cope? |

You don't think it can me the remnants of some moist behind the screen? If it is, leaving it to dry further would solve the problem. If it's something else I've never heard of the problem before so I'd be stumped what to do.

I have this problem too, it only shows up when I have it charging on an outlet. (screen is on but only showing black, bruise shws up as a purple smudge) It has been there for awhile now, so I think it's permanent. It doesn't bother me much, but I just thought you should know that it's not just you.

I can only say try this: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=52875
Since I have no idea what might cause the problem. I've never seen it myself.

I'll try the bowl of rice thing and see if that does anything.
As far as problems go, the only one it presents is that when I scroll through the menus it'll go up or down by itself or go back up two spaces after ive scrolled down. Its kind of a pain, but it looks like it doesnt do it if I use a stylus. I'll try drying it out though and i'll report back. |

I inquired Creative Support about that today.
Ill post the reply as soon as I get it. As we speak however, my X-Fi, which i affectionately dubbed "Kyou" is now sitting in a ziploc bag full of rice. |

I'm assuming because rice absorbs moisture. Brilliant.

I have had a single bruise on my screen for a while and it is a little annoying and quite noticeable when the player is held at an angle. Just an educated guess, but I think it might be due to pressing the screen too hard (damn that Bonk game! :P )

well im sad to report that it isnt NOT residue moisture like Hab suspected. The Bruise is still there, so like LordXenos mentioned, it might be an instance where I pushed it too hard.
In addition to it being an eyesore when noticable (nothing like seeing a black spot on jeremy clarkson's face when watching episodes of top gear) the menu will go wonky and auto scroll when I drag to scroll through the lists. I havent learned to compensate for it, but found that using a stylus or doing sharp movements lessens the chance of that happening. Creative hasnt responded yet, but we'll see when they do, and i'll tell you guys whats up. |

I've been dealing with several wonky menu features for a bit
#1 most annoying is the flashing screen (play, FF, rewind, etc) during the playing of tunes.... it doesn't happen all the time #2 while playing sodoku, 1 square will enlarge or flash between big and small.. unfortunately, it is not the square I am working on. I'm wondering if the bruises on the screen have anything to do with the wonky menu functions? |

I've pressed the screen deliberately before, enough to make purple spots appear, but they always went away within seconds of lifting my finger. You have to press hard enough to feel the screen buckle. I do have one spot though, so i don't think it's from pressing the screen to hard.

I did find though after I stuck a screen protector on the screen, that it didnt autoscroll as much as when I didnt have one on. I'll probably take the plunge and send it in, but then again, I could always learn to live with it. |

Did you order it online? In that case I'd contact creative and arrange for it o be returned and exchanged for a new, since it's probably an out of the box problem.
If you bought it at a local store I'd go there and talk to them.
