Hello All,
I just became aware of the NWZ A865. I am thinking of picking this one up to replace my NWZ A729, which I love, but I have always wished it had a touchscreen. I am trying to sell it to help finance my new purchase. Is the A865 a good upgrade from the A729, or should I wait for something else to come along? Also, I like the grid display of the album art on my A729; does that A865 have this type of display or is it just a vertical scroll display? I have not found any videos yet that give me a clue to the answer. Thanks |

The A8xx series uses a vertical scrolling list for album art, so sorry, but no.
Aside from that, I can't really comment on the A860s, as I have not used one. I would hope it kept the same level of quality that the A840 series had.

Unless I have misunderstood the question, I think the A865 has both options for displaying album art, depending on which way you go into that display.
If you go straight into the Album listing from the main menu, you get a grid presentation; but if you go into it from playing a track, by tapping an icon at the bottom of the screen, you get a scrolling list. (I only just got mine, and I don't have it with me so this is done from memory, but I have definitely seen both presentations on the screen) |

Thanks! Please let me know when you find and, and also how do you like the sound? I have a high school student who really wants my A729 - and has even convinced me to lower the price for him a little so that he can afford it - but there is a part of me that does not want to let it go, although I hardly use it. When I do, I just love it! |

I have one on the way from Advanced Mp3 Players in the EU. I ordered the 64gb model,...the NWZ-A867. Delivered it's costing me about $280USD. That's actually not too bad. I hope it's worth it,...but I'm a Sony lover - DAMN IT!!! Bloody FANBOI!!!

TDS, try your best not to be disappointed by that fissure between the glass screen and the surrounding frame, comparable to the East African Rift (or Grand Canyon, if you will).

So, is anyone going to let me know how this compares to the A729 that I just sold? Great price TDS. Some prices are coming down in the US, and I missed a chance to pick up a 16gb for about $165. Sixteen GB is enough - 8GB could be enough at the right price.

Although, some find this "little" gap to be acceptable. Hey.

I guess I'll find out. I could always sell it for what I paid,...no loss for me.

After loading it with my tunes and hooking up my HD25-1 II's I can say I luv the SQ it puts out. The Creative Aurvana Live HP's have a bit more bass, but it still sound excellent.
And, even if the volume is lower (15 on my S639 is much louder than on the A867) it still sounds fantastic. So, I FINALLY got my 64gb Sony player,...
