Texting App for SGP 4.0

HI Everyone. I currently have a 4.0 and was curious if there are any free texting apps that work well? I am not concered about making calls just texting. I currently have texting on my normal cell phone, but is not a smart phone and I am not able to open multi media text with my phone, I was hopeing I could do this with and app on my 4.0 , with out have to upgrade my phone plan. Any thoughts

I tried these three apps and they all give you a free phone number

- TextMe

- TextPlus

- HeyWire

I'd say I prefer TextMe, because you're able to set a custom notification sound and I was able to get a Canadian phone number, unlike the 2 others.

textPlus is the one I use and I very much like it.

I use Google Voice on mine. I can text, call and voicemail but not send picture messages.

Try Handcent, which is probably one of the most powerful texting apps available.

Google play reports that this is not compatible with my YP-G70. Is it officially compatible with the sgp 4.0 or did you side load and find it to work OK? If so you might want to link a site that has the apk.

Sorry, I didn't test this with your player, so it might very well be true.

Well, it's not compatible with the 4.0, so you have no choice to download an apk

I'd be surprised if there was any app that allowed the use of an already existing number. That just logistically sounds like a nightmare.

Google voice supports SMS but not MMS texting and offers some integration with some providers. Pretty complete integration (I'm pretty sure you can use your existing number if you set things up right) with Sprint and possibly ATT. I think with other providers you are out of luck except that you can have your google voice # forward calls and SMS texts to any US or Canadian # you control.
