Default Buying a 64gb card for my Galaxy Player

I just got a SGP 5.0, and I'm really enjoying it. However, I have almost 30gb of files and the list keeps growing. So, I want to purchase a 64gb micro SD card to format for my player. I saw two kinds on Amazon and eBay, micro SDXC and micro SDHC. For anyone with experience with this, what's the difference between a 64gb micro SDXC card and a 64gb micro SDHC card? Which do you recommend?

Here they are:
Micro SDXC

eBay

Thanks.

I wouldn't touch either of those, first off the ebay one is mislabeled ALL 64 GB cards ARE SDXC 32 GB is the top of the SDHC standard, so that looks fishy to me, and the other one is some off brand and I wouldn't trust it one bit, Get the Sandisk one and find one actually carried by AMAZON not one of there marketplace sellers. There are reports of a lot of fakes out there so only order from respected retailers.

It would be a good idea to buy this exact one instead of those off-brands and BlueProton is a good seller to buy from. I've ordered from them several times and they never gave any problems. Although getting something straight from Amazon is great, however when they are not an option then, its a good idea to buy from a good seller with a very high feedback score between 97% and 100%,which is why BlueProton is good to buy from.

BlueProton is a good company to buy from. I've ordered from them a few times and never had an issue with them. IIRC, they are a Sandisk Authorized Reseller. You can check on the Sandisk site to be sure, but that's something I always look for when buying Sandisk cards.

I agree, stay away from off-brands with this stuff. I also can vouch for BlueProton, having bought my 32GB card from them back in Januaryish.

Thanks for all of your replies! I was skeptical of the one on eBay since there's no brand name, but neither seem like a good choice now. It looks like it's Sandisk for me.

will a 64gb sdxc card even work in a galaxy player? I heard that they only support microsd hc cards up to 32gb. I really want to upgrade the storage in my player since I plan on putting a lot of videos on it in the near future.

This has been covered about 10 BILLION times, everyone reports that it is simply a matter of formatting the card which is done simply as described:

Insert card into player
player says card is "damaged" and needs to be formatted
format card
DONE!

Most newer SDHC card readers will support SDXC read the SDXC section here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital

It would be a lot cheaper to simply get another 32GB card, or just swap out the content on the 32GB card you already have from time to time, like I do in my Galaxy Tab.

This may have covered before, but to date I don't remember seeing anyone that confirmed you can use the full (or there abouts) 64gb. 64gb is 1 bit longer in addressing, if the firmware/software is not set for it, the card will still format and work but only to 32gb. Same as with Windows and hard drives, you could put in a large hard drive but Windows would only address up to a certain limit and you had to wait for the next version to use the whole drive.

Has anyone actually installed, formatted (as above), and loaded/used >32gb on a 64gb card? Maybe this has been covered 10 BILLION times and I was just sleeping at the keyboard.... If so, Sorry Bout That and thanks to the re-education.

There are TONS of videos all over Youtube to prove that 64GB cards work on Android devices.Only 59GB is available after the device formats the card, but thats just how those cards are. Think of a 64GB card as simply an SDHC card instead of SDXC card. A 64GB card can work as an SDHC card instead, which is less speed than an SDXC one,but still it still gets the same amount of space.

Ok, let me rephrase my question:

Has anyone actually installed, formatted (as above), and loaded/used >32gb on a 64gb card in a YP-G70CWY/XAA SGP5?

There are some members here who have bought one and used it with the device. It doesn't really matter what Android device its formatted by,it will work with the device.

Several members on here in the past have, most of us haven't because even now with its new price drops its still 3-4 TIMES the price of the 32GB cards, did you not read the wikipedia link, ALL SD DEVICES since 2010 will support the current SDXC card its simply a matter of formatting from the exfat file system to one compatible with the player.

I have been using a 64gb card in my Galaxy 5.0 player for over a month now with no problems. I've made several posts about it in this very forums. Formatted, the memory card is 59.46gb.

Thank you for this up-date, sorry I missed your previous postings. I have my current 32gb card full with my mp3 library, but still don't have enough room for them all. I didn't expect the 64gb cards would work due to addressing issues so I put off buying one.

Again, sorry I missed your postings.

tnx
George

Before I bought my 64gb card, I had the same concerns about whether it would work or not. I'm happy to say that formatting it to FAT32 in the SGP 5.0 is as easy as pie (thanks to uglor808 and others here on the forum).

I have the card filled to about 42GB now and also use the card to store the backups for my apps. My old computer can read the card when it's in the SGP and also when the card is in my clip+. It can't in my old card reader though, but that's a minor thing to me.

edit: While everyone's price point is different, I don't mind that I paid more than double (not that much higher) for a 32gb card since the 64gb card is a class 6 instead of a class 4 and with one card I get about 1.5gb more than with two 32gb ones. With the 32gb, I only got 29gb of storage space.

32GB cards ARE 29.71GB not 29 even and double that and you get 59.42 which is what the 64GB cards should be, what is yours? This all comes from the fact that GB are marketed as 1 billion bytes when they are actually 1,073,741,824 bytes.

also the class 4 32GB card is on amazon at 20 bucks and change which puts the 64 GB card are more then 4 times more expensive,
