Battery Charge and Volume Tweak

Two questions:

1) Would turning it off every couple of hours be bad for the battery charge or anything else for that matter?

2) Is there a tweak to make it so the volume rocker would raise or the volume by a few decibels instead of 1?

1) No.
2) Yes, but it would involve changing the function in the sound driver that adjusts the gain on the amplifier. By default it just uses 1.5dB increments, which is the native size for the amp.
