I say get a clip zip sized device and a 32gb micro sd card and a kindle fire. that will come to around the same price as the tab 2

Depends on what you use it for though. Also you can get them refrurbed for around $140. If you root it and install a custom rom should work just fine. Just saying that why spend $250 for a tablet if you just want to use it for audio? It's also not very portable. I personally have a kindle keyboard and I can squeeze it into my pocket if I really needed to. I'm saying that maybe he should consider gettting a rockboxex clip+ or something with a large micro sd card and get the tablet for the rare occasion you want more than audio. I bought my clip+ for $20 refurbed. Maybe he even has a micro sd card lying around. If that is the case he can really have the best of both worlds. Also does the OP have a smartphone already? I have an htc phone already so an android mp3 player doesn't make much sense. Just giving options.

The SGP 5 is down to $199 at Best Buy this week - the Tab 2 7" is just $40 more at BJs. Price is almost the same. The Tab 2 has a dual core processor. The SGP 5 does not. It all depends on your needs. The SGP 5 is a tablet that will fit in a large pocket. That is what sold me on it six months ago. Had I known that Samsung was not going to fully support the SGP series, I might have gone toward a regular tablet.

I had the SGP 5.0, I now have the Tab 7.0 Plus. I totally luv my T7.0P,...I'm not missing the SGP 5.0 at all!!!

Totally agree with you! I have both, 5 is my take-out, great for bus trips to use the Kindle app for reading, and 7+ stays home and is sometime used for night reading with Kindle app.

I have both, each with 32 GB micros. Get the Tab 2 7.0 first. Add the Player 5 later. Best Buy runs the Player 5 at $192 frequently.
