![]() As expected, Nokia has announced that it is bringing its 808 PureView Symbian smartphone to the United States. Unfortunately, it’s kind of a half-hearted release. The phone will only be sold directly through Amazon.com for a hefty $699 price tag. It will be compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile’s wireless networks, but the latter is only supported at 2G speeds. Of course, if you really want a smartphone with a massive 41MP Carl Zeiss camera, this might not be too much of a roadblock. Nokia is primarily focused on Windows Phone in the US, so the fact that the Finnish company isn’t giving the 808 PureView a bigger stateside release isn’t too much of a surprise. In fact, Nokia continues to promise that it will integrate elements of PureView technology into future Windows Phone devices. We still don’t know exactly when the 808 PureView will be made available, but it shouldn’t be too much longer now. Are you planning on picking one up, or are you willing to wait for its Windows Phone debut? [Nokia Conversations]

It will be interesting to see if Nokia can make a comeback in the US like they once had ...
