Skype has updated its Windows Phone app, fixing a few annoying bugs and adding support for People Hub contacts in the Skype contact list. To prevent clutter, Skype will only show contacts with one or more phone numbers. With version 1.2.0.257, you’ll also be able to “edit a phone number in the dial-pad before calling.”
The update doesn’t appear to be live on the Windows Phone Marketplace just yet, but it should show up very soon. Once it does, you’ll be able to update the app by simply waiting for your phone to notify you via the Marketplace live tile or by searching for the app in the Marketplace itself. If the update button doesn’t appear immediately, try backing out and selecting the app again. That forces the update option to appear before your ‘scheduled’ rollout time.
Microsoft, of course, plans to
introduce a major Skype update tomorrow as part of the Windows Phone 8 “Apollo” announcement. I’ll be on hand at the event to cover it live for Anythingbutiphone and Pocketables. What Skype improvements would you like to see announced?
