The main reason I linked to that is simply that I remember seeing his post come up, as I was getting ready to post my review....lol. I posted the review at 10:58 that morning....after having had the device itself for two weeks.

So maybe in a couple hours we'll see an official press release....

I wouldn’t put much anticipation on prior release dates to be the same day a year later, it will or won’t be released when they're ready :P

So you think the Clip+ players that came with the 17 firmware might be a V2 with different hardware?

If the comment about there being a Clip+ V2 is directed at my remark about the firmware, that isn't at all what I meant. My thoughts were along the lines of the new firmware being issued as a way of being ready for the Clip+ continuing to be in production. Even that's speculation on my part.

My guess is there's probably not much difference in hardware, if any. If you'll recall when the V2 versions of the Clip, Fuze and E2xx series came out the hardware was different so the firmware versions weren't interchangeable. Since the recently issued firmware works with the older models I don't think there can be an essential difference in the hardware.

It seems odd that some players come with the 17 firmware, yet they don't release the 17 firmware, and instead release 18. Who knows though. I wonder if some who have a player that came with the 17 software on it successfully installed the 18 firmware on it.

I almost rushed out and got a Fuze+ when they came out. Then I read the opinions here and at Amazon. As far as I know, Best Buy in Canada isn't even selling them anymore and the ones they do have in stock have been drastically reduced. I still wouldn't even pick it up at a deep discount though.

Would really like to get a newer model, if they learn from their mistakes. Until then, I'm more than happy with my 8GB original.

I might just go with a Sony if this one dies before a new model is released.

So they've come with only new clip+ colors? That's great.
