110h playtime for audio... that's a bold claim. Specs aren't really impressive otherwise.

Just unbelievable...
Why keeping the form factor of the X7 to slaughter it with a bad screen and a miserable capacity ?
They stopped producing the J3 to release something which is just worse in every possible ways. Priceless...

I don't know about that, DarkDiesel. If it really does have a play time of 110 hours I would say that is a BIG improvement. The screen res... not so much.

The X7 also had that same kind of crazy battery life.

I don't think the X9 is the reason why Cowon cancelled the J3. I'm sure they'll announce the J3's successor soon, too.

About the capacity: If the X9 has an SDXC slot, its support 128+ gb microSD cards. This would void the low capacity point. Unfortunately I don't understand Korean so I can't find it out.

And about the low-res screen: How do you think Cowon managed to achieve the awesome battery life?

Apple, Creative & Microsoft all managed to put out 64GB players (I know I tried all 3 of them). I reluctantly bought the J3, because I wasn't particularly thrilled about having to "build" a 64GB and then 96GB player.

To me 64GB is the baseline, and since it's an X model, it should have at least one model in triple digits.

I just hope they designed the file # limit in line with future gigantic micro cards.

I think if it came equipped with 128GB of flash storage it would be a much more attractive purchase.

Okay, I agree with this - I think, too, they should sell 64+gb versions of their new players (X9, successor of J3,...).

Am I allowed to say GODDAMMIT COWON, STOP DESIGNING CRAP, or is that inappropriate for the forum admin?

Cause nobody ever made capacitive screens with that size and resolution, to the best of my knowledge - those are ancient crap screens from before capacitive took over, and which you only find in dumpsters... they're not even used in generic Chinese players on Dealextreme anymore.

Hmm, I guess you're right. Let's hope the J3's successor is more of an upgrade than the X9.
