I'm looking into getting an mp3 player (possibly a SGP 3.6). I came across ads for a "Samsung Galaxy Rush" and "Samsung Galaxy Discover" (no-contract) for less than $100 on Black Friday (Kmart/Radio Shack). It seems like they are running Android 4.0 out of box. Although they are phones, they seem to be cheaper than a SGP and can be used as an mp3 player. Also they are running Ice Cream (vs Gingerbread on a SGP)
Rush ($69.99 on Black Friday): http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=16119996 Discover ($89.99 on Black Friday): http://bfads.net/Kmart-Black-Friday-...Contract-Phone Both have small storage (<4 gb) but can be expanded with sd cards. Does anyone have experience/thoughts on these vs the SGP? |

I'd say out of both of those, the rush would be a better choice based on specs. you might not get as much memory, but you do get a data network and more ram if you need it, also comes with the added benefit of not having to shop at k-mart.

Here's a side-by-side comparison if anyone comes across this post from Google. I couldn't find much discussion about theses Samsung devices.

Well, if your in an area with coverage from boost, get that one, boost (atleast they did last year) had an option for unlimited internet for like 15 cents a day as an add on to there pay per minute plan, so you could have a data plan for like 5 bucks a month if you didn't use it as a phone.
well just looked and Boost freaking doubled everything in the pay per minute plans, when I had it texts where 10 cents and calls 10 cents a minute, now there both 20 cents and web is 50 cents a day so that would be a data plan for like 15 bucks a month if you never made calls on it.
