Can no longer see Battery Icon on screen

So for a few months now, I cannot see the battery life icon on my front screen, all it shows is the square with the P, like when its plugged in for charging. Its not concerning, except for I can never tell when I'm low on battery. Is there any way to change this, or figure out what caused this, so I may trace it back and fix it, there are no options I've seen in any menus or sub menus I've found to fix this.

Have you tried using the reset button or re-installing the firmware?
