Default Galaxy 4.2" Power adapter with wrong plug

I ordered this player "Used-like new" from Amazon Warehouse Deals. When the first one arrived the charging adapter had a plug which would not fit in North American AC receptacles. It looked like a UK-type plug.

I returned it, ordered another one and it had the same problem. Amazon had no problem refunding my payment. However, when I contacted Samsung they claimed that was the way these units are shipped to North American. It is up to the customer to find the correct adapter.

Can this possibly be true?

I've ordered a third one, hoping for the best.

Comments?

The region code should be written on the back of the player and/or on the box.
For example, XAA for the USA. XEF/XEU/EDC for Europe, XEF for France, etc

If you see XAA, you have a US version which should come with a US power adapter of course. If you see another region code, that means the device is not meant for the US market, it was imported from another country for some reasons (availability, costs etc...) and you won't get a US power adapter.

BTW, that's not really important, it's a standard microUSB connection. It's the same power adapter as for any Samsung smartphone. 5V, 0.7A. You can get one very cheap from amazon.
I wouldn't return the GP 4.2 just because of that

Thanks for your quick, and informative reply. How come the Samsung Technical Service rep didn't know that? He asked me for information off the player/box. (No need to answer.)

If the third player one arrives with the same problem, I plan to do as you suggest. In fact, I've ordered a UK-to-US plug adapter so the charger will fit into N. American outlets.

I already have a USB charger that came with an LG phone. Will that work? Also, can the GP 4.2" be charged via the USB port on a computer?

Thanks again,
Don

Because it's probably not a usual question/request and they are not curious enough to learn during their free-time. That's the difference between an enthusiast like me and someone doing it only to earn money

That will work but 2 pieces to plug is not very practical for a daily use. If you can, I would cancel the order and buy a US microUSB power adapter instead.
I found that for example: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ETA0U6...travel+charger
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-ATADU1...travel+charger

If your LG phone also has a microUSB connection, the charger will probably work. Just make sure that it's written 5V and 0.7A or 1A on it.

Yes sure! But it will take a bit longer than with AC adapter.

Again, thanks for the information and tips.

The player should arrive in a week. If it also has the wrong adapter, I'll order the one you suggest.

I'm glad I found this Forum. I'm sure it will be a great resource.
