Angry Problems with Galaxy Player 4.0 YP-G1

My player goes into boot loop about every 24 hours. It happens during idle, and it will continue until the battery dies. If I can catch it in the act, it will boot normally if I hold the power button.

I'm running Doggcatcher with presto, and Jay's headset control. It's a random occurrence when all 3 are working nicely. Sometimes the audio gets really slow and noisy and I have to push stop and then it might play nicely for quite a while. The headset control will sometimes work, but only about half the time.

I've tried factory reset and I've tried a couple of kernals; steves, and Klins. I think it may have helped some. Oh, I've also tried a couple of memory managers.

Can someone advise me what to do?

Thanks!

Well simply flashing a Kernel isn't going to do much, you need to use a CPU tuner app like "No Frills CPU" to change the governor and I/O scheduler to actually see a difference. Use Terrasilent 1.3.5 for the Kernel and set it overclock to 1.2 Ghtz with Smartass V2 governor and deadline for the I/O.

Sounds like you might be trying to do to much, as for the bootloop that is not normal regardless of how many apps you have going, if the player crashes from to many apps it should still reboot normally.

Thanks. I`m trying that, but I wonder how it will help as the device does this when it's in idle mode.

I forgot to mention that I also have to keep uninstalling updates to Google Play Store. Is there a way to avoid having to do that all the time?

you can set the apps to not auto update, but the play store itself will auto update and you can't stop that, that I know of, I believe it is required to keep using the play store.

Maybe try flashing a different ROM (are you still on stock?), that or your player might be jacked up.

Well, I woke up this morning to a bricked device.

OK, it's not totally bricked but it won't finish booting up. I can get it into the download mode or whatever it's called, by pressing the power and volume down switches.

How do I get this thing working again?

Ok My device booted. I think the battery was too low to allow booting before even when connected to the supply. Anyway, which of those kernals and ROMs are the most stable? Will any allow me to use the latest version of Google play?

I am far from knowledgeable on these matters. I do know I tried steves kernal and had trouble with a bootloop. I now use terrasilent and have had no problems with it.
Curious, why do you need to keep uninstalling Gplay updates? What is happening with it that is not right?

It keeps giving me error messages about the update not being compatible or something like that. Each time I want to download a new app, I have to uninstall the update. Also, I just did a factory reset and it showed some errors. I tried downloading terrasilent and it's still bootlooping. I tried downloading and running heimdall but I'm getting an error when running that which says that it can't run on my 64bit win7 because it's missing a dll. I tried installing the 2010 visual C++ executable, but I'm having trouble with that as well.

ok I was able to get back to stock with the terrasilent kernal. I wiped all my data. Now I'm wondering if I should try an updated ROM.
