From this shot they look real enough, but there is not enough detail available.

Read the top of this thread, the fake ones have Y cables, not J, and often come with the straight gold plated plug, and not a right angled chrome plated plug.

it seems they are not fake from that

the first has j cables and the 2nd has no real pics, and they have the right angle chrome plugs

I come to you with worrying news. I purchased a pair of Senn CX300 style headphones from Kaidomain.com they were $2.85 shipped from HK so really really cheap.

i know what defines fakes from real. fakes exhibit y-cord the "grills" are hemispherical and a straight plug.

this is what i got

as you can see it is j-cord

so i took off the sleeve and this is what i saw

the grill is recessed

L-plug

The print on the back is thin and clear


To me this would be indistinguishable to someone who thought they were getting the real deal. i cannot compare sound quality as i have never heard real CX300 so this is just a physical inspection. maybe if someone has a real pair they could take closeup pics like this and we could all compare.

yea i know that that was only one type of fake. but most if not all of the talk about fakes that i heard was about the OP fakes. i just wanted to get the word out about these different "better" fakes that from what i can see are identical to the real ones. has anyone else seen fakes this close to real???

I've seen fakes like that bought from auction sites. Quite good, both in look and sound quality, actually, but the packaging was a bit off.

I'm a bit surprised those are from Kaidomain, though. I've had several of their sets, and all of them have had no real grille and a Y-cord in addition to lacking the extra caps and the packaging not being quite right.

Sorry to hear that these are getting too good, as that means people are probably scamming them off at ebay for >$20 + shipping when they should pay less than $3. I must say, though, that the Kaidomain 'lookalikes' I've had would have been a passable buy even at $20, and at $2.85 shipped they're an outright steal.

Another physical way to ensure they're real is that the metal mesh covering on the ear piece should be fine enough for you to see the driver's reflection. The mesh also concaves towards the inside: (=Q the "(" is the mesh in relation to the ear piece "=Q"....if that made it more confusing, just look at the pictures.

Advcomp2019 was kind enough to take some good macro pics of his (very well) faked CX300. He bought them from Amazon Marketplace. Here's a comparison with my genuine ones.

On the fakes the aluminum rings look different (groove is in the center of the ring, differently rounded edges), plastic housing is rough and non-reflective, logo print is different (only sharp angles, no rounded ones), plastic ring around the metal mesh is sharp (not rounded like the real one). However, the angled 3.5mm plug looks exactly the same as on the real CX300...

Please excuse my dusty, dirty CX300 - I hardly ever use it, it's just gathering dust.

There is a new seller on the Amazon.com Marketplace selling them for 27$ with shipping, I'm assuming s/he's selling them cheap to get a good first rating.

Do you think I should take the risk and buy them with a chance of them being fake (like the new "more real" fake ones described above)? If I do get them and they are fake, is there any way to get my money back?

I don't know, I question whether even buying new from Amazon is legit. Normally, I'd trust Amazon's name to be pretty trustworthy and credible. But after browsing around a bit, I'm getting suspicious...

At $15 on ebay, I think there's little question whether or not they're fake (if not fake, they must be factory rejects, or stolen, or something, right?!?) But $40 and being sold on Amazon, that's not a bad price...

ive seen tons of threads about real vs fake cx300 but im wondering it this is real or fake, because its not not like its sold for $20, the company works with amazon i think, it costs like $39 and also i dont really see that mani white cx300s only black and silver and i went on the sennheiser offical site and they didnt have the white colour sennheisers cx300, so are these real?

yes those would be real cx300s if they are as on the pics. they come in white, silver or black to suit your player better

i asked them for the box that i will recieve along with the sennheisers and they sent me a pic, im not sure if its real cuz ive seen other boxes from sites that sell em for liek $80 and they're different

The genuine Sennheiser packaging can be seen in this PDF DataSheet of the CX300. I don't know whether Sennheiser decided to change their packaging, but the one in your attachment is very different. I would be extra careful.
