Thumbs up How long to fill your ZVM?

Hi,

I have just got a ZVM 30gb
& I have started the mammoth task of transferring my CD collection, no one warned me it would take over my life to such an extent
how long is it going to take ?
Days (hopefully)
Weeks (probably)
Months (possibly)

How long did it take you?

So far the ZVM is everything I hoped it would be, spent a lot of time lurking before I took the plunge so thanks for all the stellar advice.

Rob

I had all myCD's 0n my laptop already. I like to use my laptop to scroll and play. It was and still is my home jukebox. When I got my Zen I filled it with my favorite songs, photo's and video while i slept one night. Everything I wanted on there was already on my laptop. Its the same with all my DAP's. It sounds as though you are starting from scatch so it depends on your library of songs, videos and photos as well as the speed of your computer. how long does it take you to do 10 cd's then multiply that by how many cd's you have.

I've had my Vision M (30GB) about a week and it's out of space

I've probably got about 15 albums on there i never listen to, so they'll have to go to make room for the new stuff.

I've been very unlucky with my iPods. Here's how they all met their end:

iPod 4G 20GB - Died of the "folder error" .. Corrupt firmware or a dead hard drive causes this.
iPod 4G 20GB - I walked into a post and the screen smashed
iPod 5G 30GB - Headphone jack broke
iPod 5G 30GB - Headphone jack broke
iPod 5G 30GB - Sold it!

It took me about a week I think to get stuff sorted out to a satisfactory level. Two or three days of re-ripping/encoding most of my CDs as I originally ripped them as 96kbps WMAs, redid them as 256kbps VBRs and then another four to get stuff sorted out better than what the CDDB info did and adding album art to almost all songs and just cleaning of the directory structures and whatever..

I didn't do all my CDs, just most of them and then from there I didn't add all my music to my ZVM since I wanted to leave space for video, so I think I ended up with about 18GB-20GB of music with around 7GB free for video/pictures/ect.
