I'm really curious to hear the SQ of the iRiver X20. If it's the same as the Sansa E2xx, then the mic is why the sound is so bad!
I much prefer the KISS, less things to break and or corrupt. The mike on the Sansa is 1/2 a step up from unusable, with NO line in. Not sure about the X20, but as I understand there is no input/2nd headjack. The second headjack is handy to me YMMV Edit, the X20 does a a line in... Edit II, x20 has a file browser for each drive. x20 is made by joytoto, same as NS-DVxG. http://www.pocketables.net/2007/04/review_iriver_x.html I'm just glade the Insignia does NOT have mic or speakers

I agree, not including a mic was a very smart decision on Insignia's part. The built in mics on these things are NEVER good (they're either really bad at picking up voices, or they record electrical noise from the unit...). And not including it keeps the cost way down, as you can clearly see.

16b-yes Serious problem listening to AA files. Tech support pretends not to know about problem, calls it a corrupted file.

Wow, this is cool... it's almost like an interactive "design your own mp3 player" forum... votes:

New Feature (Bug Fix?) for the ns-dv4g: Have the player get the tag information from OGG music files. Rather than just use "Unknown" for the album and artist as it does now.

**Feature I would like...**
-10 While scanning through a song or video, scan speed should slowly increase YES To me, the main benefit of the Insignia over other MP3/video players is the ability to watch full length movies on an over-2" screen (with enough battery reserve to make it all the way through) in an economical package but without a faster fast forward, this _was_ almost a worthless capability until the new firmware release which does not lose your place in a video over 70 minutes or when you turned it off, used the menu, etc. A faster fast forward is still a critical feature to add since you can still lose your place in videos and have to sit there holding the fast forward button down for 10 minutes to resume your place. turf |

I vote for anything that makes controlling videos easier ie fastforward, rewind, bookmarks or whatever.

Flac support would be a great compliment to the recently added "wma lossless support"

I'd like to place my yes vote for:
-17 Ability to rearrange songs in the "Now Playing" song list -34 When charging with an AC adapter, the player should give some kind of sign that it's actually doing something (Especially the part about the screen shutting off after a certain amount of time charging would be great. There seems to be overlap with #42 here.) -42 LCD backlight should shut off if the player is connected to a computer for a certain period of time And a second for a new feature: Album art from file. Quote:
I'm seeing funky characters in the song information--characters, symbols, etc. It's always at the end of the title/artist/album, for example, the title "Will I?" is followed by a space and then the female symbol. What gives? Is this normal? These symbols don't show up on my computer or my sister's DAP, which is a Cowon model. If there's any other info I can supply please tell me. |

BUG: {Confirmed, Major, Firmware: 1.200} Causes BSOD or reboot when connecting the player in MSC mode after loading with more than 2GB of media in MTP mode.
BUG: {Confirmed, Minor, Firmware: 1.200} USB connection fails when connecting to a computer with several other USB devices already connected (Eg: laptop on a dock). -8 Portrait mode: YES -66 Alarm clock function. Yes. - 7 Text Viewer YES -21 Multiple on-the-fly playlisting. YES -36 Ability to choose different color schemes/themes. YES I have noticed that the iRiver X20 and the Insignia NS-DVxG use the same internal hardware: ARM TCC8200 processor 200MHz + codec Texas Instruments TI TLV320AIC23B The two players are essentially the same, including the interface: www.pocketables.net/2007/04/review_iriver_x.html Features that the X20 has, that should be able to be ported over are: -line-in and FM Recording using mp3 format for encoding. -File browsing Uses terms like "Internal" and "SD" instead of "NAND" -text scroll speed -connection type control (MSC/MTU) from within the Settings menu. |
