Shic’s upcoming P-1000T portable media player is identical to its predecessor, the P-1000, in every way except one. It comes with a DVB-T USB stick, remote control, and DVB-T antenna so users can watch free digital TV on the device’s 4-inch TFT display (480 x 272) and record programs and movies in AVI (MPEG-4) format on its spacious 30GB hard drive just about anywhere. Nothing good on the tube? Not to worry! With native support of DivX, XviD, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, AVI, and VOB videos; MP3, WMA, and WAV music files; and JPG, GIF, and BMP images, the player ensures that you’ll never go too long without being entertained.
The P-1000T also features a text reader, SD card slot, S-Video and Video-Out (NTSC/PAL), USB 2.0 host capabilities, and decent battery life (5 hours for video/TV, 10 hours for audio) on its rechargeable lithium-ion.
AVING USA is reporting that the player will retail in China for about $450. We haven’t been able to confirm that, but whatever it costs, the P-1000T is definitely one of the better (if not the best) PMPs to come out of China in a long time.
